Biography
John Breakfield is a judge for Hall County Superior Court. In May of 2016, Judge Breakfield won a contested election for a four-year term beginning January 1, 2017. In State Court, he presided over non-equity civil matters and criminal misdemeanors cases.
Prior to taking the bench, Judge Breakfield owned his own law firm and handled both civil and criminal matters for individuals and small businesses. Additionally, as an attorney, he served as the prosecutor for the City of Gainesville Municipal Court, Assistant City Attorney for the City of Gainesville, and taught paralegal classes at the University of North Georgia.
Prior to his election, Judge Breakfield was on Governor Deal's Judicial Nominating Commission, where he assisted in the process of interviewing and vetting judges for potential gubernatorial appointment. Judge Breakfield was also Lt. Governor Casey Cagle's representative on the Georgia State Properties Commission and the Georgia Public Building Authority.
Judge Breakfield earned his B.A. from Wofford College and his law degree from Mercer University. He is married with two children.
