Biography
Elected by the citizens of Hall and Dawson Counties, Judge John Breakfield presides over the Superior Court, handling our community’s most serious criminal cases and significant civil disputes with a firm commitment to fairness, respect, and equal justice for every person who enters the courtroom.
Before taking the bench, Judge Breakfield ran his own law firm representing individuals and small businesses across Georgia. He also served as Solicitor for Gainesville Municipal Court, Assistant City Attorney, and Adjunct Professor at the University of North Georgia.
A trusted voice in Georgia’s legal community, Judge Breakfield served on Governor Nathan Deal’s Judicial Nominating Commission and represented Lt. Governor Casey Cagle on the Georgia State Properties Commission.
Judge Breakfield holds a B.A. from Wofford College and a J.D. from Mercer University School of Law. He and his wife are proud Hall County residents and parents of two wonderful sons.
